Orientation to ESL for ALL

This self-paced course is designed to help you understand and use Canadian Language Benchmarks: English as a Second Language for Adult Literacy Learners (ESL for ALL). It is designed to take approximately 20 hours, including the readings and activities. You must create a free user account. This course is free.

CLB: ESL for ALL Support Kit Training

This is a 4-hour online self-study training course based on the CLB: ESL for ALL Support Kit. The purpose of this training is to help seasoned and new ESL literacy instructors who teach in CLB-based ESL literacy programs become familiar with the various sections of the Support Kit and to highlight the use of different resources included in the Kit. Teaching LESLLA Learners

EU-Speak offers six online modules for teachers and tutors that make available this much-needed ongoing professional development. All modules are free.

Certificate in Teaching ESL (CERTESL)

This is a certificate program offered by the University of Saskatchewan. There is one course that focuses on Literacy ECUR 339.

Post-TESL Certificate: Advanced Teaching Strategies for Diverse Classrooms

This is a certificate program offered by Bow Valley College. While not all of the courses in this certificate are geared specifically towards literacy, much of the information in these courses is relevant to teaching literacy learners.

Literacy Minnesota Training

A host of webinars and online training courses (in addition to in-person training) that focus on tutoring adults in language and other skills. Many are currently focused on delivering online instruction. Check back often for trainings relevant to EAL Adult Literacy.
